A Dash of Magic

Nathan Burton’s Vegas favorites are no illusion

Nathan Burton

Showgoers can get the best of both the comedy and magic worlds with a ticket to Nathan Burton Comedy Magic. Burton’s show at the Flamingo offers both showgirls and family fun, giving a little something for everyone. The former America’s Got Talent contestant sat down with Las Vegas Magazine’s Emma Trotter to reveal what he loves about Sin City.

Variety of entertainment
I go to shows all the time, and I have seen almost every show two or three times. If you want to see a great magic show, David Copperfield is amazing. I grew up on him; he’s my idol. As far as comedy, Carrot Top is hilarious, Blue Man Group, and I love Le Rêve and Donny & Marie. The way (the siblings) interact is amazing.
Las Vegas nature
At Mt. Charleston, there’s a picnic area right above the lodge. I’ve been to Red Rock Canyon a couple of times, hiking. I’ve been skydiving five or six times, past Primm. A lot of the entertainers go there skydiving. It’s the coolest thing ever.

Dining
Late-night munchies at Fireside Lounge at the Peppermill. Also, Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab over at The Forum Shops at Caesars; they have a Parmesan crusted halibut that’s amazing. I love Tex-Mex food and Lindo Michoacan.

Recreation
Once in a while I will try to squeeze in a boat (trip) at Lake Mead. I’ve been to Venus Pool Club, Tao Beach and the topless pool at the Flamingo, the GO Pool.

Shopping
Metropark, Lucky Brand Jeans and Rock & Republic are my top three.

Out on the town
One of my favorite clubs is Pure because the Flamingo is right across the street, and there’s a 20,000-square-foot wrap of my head on the building. I don’t go that often but when I do, they are like, “It’s the guy from the building.” There’s Tao and Surrender, too, and if I want to go somewhere low profile I go to The Griffin and Downtown Cocktail Room (in downtown Las Vegas).
