Anxiously, you shift around in your seat. The lights are dimmed. Your cocktail is in hand. Whispered giggles, heated energy and sly smiles run through the theater. Then the countdown begins. 10, 9, 8, 7 … by the time the emcee gets to 1 it’s an all-out carnal carousel as the men of Chippendales The Show take the stage. Whether you’re 18 or 100, you’re single or married, something inside of you awakens as some of the hottest men in Las Vegas set your wildest fantasies aflame. Damn, it’s gonna be a good night!
Recently celebrating its eighth anniversary and 3,000th show at the Rio, and the 30th anniversary of the worldwide Chippendales brand, the production is the longest-running male revue in Las Vegas. They ain’t lyin’ when they say it’s the ultimate girls night out; spending your night with these bronzed and buff men is a satisfying sure bet.
Sweet and spicy vignettes are played out by 12 barely clothed hotties, and there’s a type of man to fit every woman’s taste. You like the cute, all-American boy next door? How about a stunning man dressed in uniform? What about the rough ’n’ tough bad boy? Done, done and mmmmm, definitely done! Combining sexy dance moves and heart-thumping music, the show features emcee Jaymes Vaughan, who serves as vocalist to hype the crowd and puts on a spectacular performance.
Vaughan, with his boyish good looks and a definite manly charm, grew up in Chesterfield, Va., a town so rural he even fed the pigs on his family’s farm. By age 12 he was bit by the performing bug and landed a singing role at a local theme park. From there he continued to sing, searching out record deals, performing on cruise ships and eventually continuing his career in New Orleans. Then Hurricane Katrina hit, and he was forced to evacuate. “Everything that I was doing was all washed away,” Vaughan said. “So I went back to Virginia to start over and figure out what I was going to do next.”
Vegas became his next move. While starring in a country show at Harrah’s, Chippendales execs took notice and asked if he would like to go on tour with the company. After completing the tour, Vaughan became a permanent fixture in the production at Rio. In addition to starring in Chippendales The Show, he also stars in Rio’s Show in the Sky.
“On the nights where I’m in Chippendales and Show in the Sky it’s really cool, because I literally run back and forth between the two shows. It’s timed down to the second. … It’s a little stressful, but it’s a really good stress because you feel like a rock star.”
When Vaughan isn’t tantalizing with his performing creds, he works as a real estate agent and continues his search for the perfect woman. “The biggest thing that attracts me is confidence, drive and passion. I want somebody that will conquer the world with me,” he said.
You can spend some personal time with Vaughan and the other Chippendales men, and some lucky ladies get to go up onstage, too.
“Women come to Chippendales to let go and have a good time and enjoy themselves, and they’re in the company of other women, so it’s like one big party for the girls,” Vaughan said. And trust me ladies, this is definitely one party that you’ll want to RSVP to.
