Magician of the century Siegfried Fischbacher, one half of the legendary magical duo Siegfried & Roy, tapped the keg at Hofbräuhaus to kick off six weeks of Oktoberfest celebrations. Hofbräuhaus, across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel at Paradise and Harmon, offers patrons an opportunity to party like Munich, Germany, with beer, Jägermeister, sausages and sauerkraut. Hofbräuhaus was so jam-packed for Las Vegas resident and philanthropist Fischbacher’s keg tapping for Oktoberfest that people were reportedly turned away at the door.
In what will go down in Las Vegas history as the glitziest show to ever rock Las Vegas, superstar Cher announced that she will end her three-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Feb. 5. The award-winning actress and singer will have performed approximately 200 shows during her three years at The Colosseum, which began May 6, 2008. “Cher is an entertainment legend,” John Meglen, co-CEO and president of AEG Live/Concerts West, said in a statement. “We wish her luck in future endeavors and thank her and the cast and crew for their dedication.”
The Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens debuted its picturesque harvest tableau with sights, colors and scents, including Asiatic lilies and chrysanthemums, celebrating the season. Among the autumnal attractions: three majestic “fantasy” trees created by English artist Tom Hare weighing 3,300 pounds each; a stone-based rustic greenhouse with 20- to 30-year-old specimen orchids from around the world; and eight to 10 colossal pumpkins from Half Moon Bay, Calif.
By Nov. 1, Mindfreak magician and Believe star Criss Angel will have his new mega magic kit in 40,000 stores. Recently, he hosted an industry-only party at The Bank in Bellagio. Criss welcomed the crowd to the club and started doing tricks with buyers right on the dance floor. Fellow Luxor headliner Carrot Top, magician Amazing Johnathan and mentalist Gerry McCambridge were there to join in the celebration.
