Music legend Rod Stewart announced that he is going to perform eight shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from Nov. 6-21. For the first time, the rocker will play all of the greatest hits spanning his 50-year career in the music venue built for Celine Dion. “For some years now, AEG Live has been wanting me to do a residency show in Las Vegas. I decided it was time to give it a try, but I thought, ‘First, let’s try two weeks instead of two years, though,’” Stewart said in a statement. “Who knows what this could lead to?”
Matsuri is celebrating its first anniversary at Imperial Palace and has signed an additional one-year contract. Matsuri (Japanese for festival) is an action-packed, nonverbal production that showcases athleticism through a series of variety acts. The 70-minute show features 18 Japanese athletes and entertainers performing stunts including “Human Jump Rope,” “Judo Tango,” “Lion Dance” and “Foot Drums.” The acts incorporate music, strength, acrobatics, beauty and Japanese culture under the direction of Ushio Higuchi.
Mayor Oscar Goodman is joining the UFL’s Las Vegas Locomotives as a tight end with a ceremonial contract-signing at Fremont Street Experience. “I want to thank the Locos for giving me a chance. I don’t know if I’ll be much help on the field, but I can definitely teach them how to make a good martini for the concession stand,” Goodman joked in a statement. “I did play some high school and college football, but that was so long ago that I think we were wearing leather helmets.”
Las Vegas-based Angel Management Group announced an agreement to buy Pure Management Group, making AMG the largest nightlife company in Las Vegas. Upon completion of the deal, AMG assumes operation of all nine PMG entities, including Pure at Caesars Palace, LAX at Luxor and Social House at CityCenter’s Crystals. AMG currently handles marketing, promotions, VIP services and event programming for properties including Wet Republic, Tabú Ultra Lounge and Studio 54 at MGM Grand.
