Denver may consider itself the Mile High City, but in Vegas, we have a mile of our own—Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort. Well, technically, walking the entire loop is 1.2 miles. Along the way, 170 stores line the walk, with 15 restaurants and three live performance theaters thrown in for good measure.
Beauty giant Sephora, with its carnival of skin-care brands, and Urban Outfitters, with its fun take on fashion, decorating and lighthearted knickknacks, anchor the shopping complex. H&M, True Religion Brand Jeans and GUESS by Marciano are just some of the trendy fashion brands that line the mile. Within, a changing flow of stores keeps the energy fresh. Even an indoor rainstorm gives the desert a refreshing feel once an hour.
In fact, in May, coins tossed into the fountain under the rainstorm go toward Communities in Schools of Nevada to benefit Clark County teachers and students. Each month, the charity benefiting from the coins changes.
Double-digit sales and an increase in foot traffic at Miracle Mile Shops has spurred some boutiques to do a little refreshing of their own. Marine-life art dealer Wyland Galleries, dessert café Nestlé Toll House Café, ABC Stores, with two locations in Miracle Mile Shops, and Tommy Bahama, which is remodeling and moving into a larger location in the center, are just some of the places planning to freshen their looks.

Others have already undergone changes. About $8 million in construction was invested in new and remodeled stores since January 2011. Examples include Victoria’s Secret, which consistently performs in the top 10 of all locations nationwide, and Fat Tuesday, which has seen sales numbers skyrocket since completing its remodel in December and is now ranked No. 1
in its company.
On May 1, Miracle Mile Shops gained the sports collectibles and memorabilia store Tristar Sports Memorabilia, which kicked off its new residency with autograph signings by Joe Montana and Jose Canseco. The store is decked out in authentic autographed memorabilia from Babe Ruth (including a $50,000 autographed baseball), Muhammad Ali, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Derek Jeter, Tiger Woods, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and many more.
In the past year, Miracle Mile Shops found new food options such as Jamba by Jamba Juice with its whole-fruit smoothies, sandwiches, fresh-squeezed juices and juice blends. It joins restaurants such as Red Rocker Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina, sports bar Blondies and PBR Rock Bar & Grill. In September, the gourmet popcorn legend Garrett Popcorn opens its first Las Vegas location.
Vegas is a place to look good, so the new blow-dry bar Dollheads opens this June. A quick blowout or extensions will be available. In November, GRATiAE brings its line of organic skin care products to Miracle Mile Shops.
And coming in early 2013, Scamp & Scoundrel, an offshoot of Ultra Diamonds, opens an affordable upscale fashion jewelry boutique.
