White Night
Get your Independence Day partying on at Tabú Ultra Lounge at MGM Grand, where you can get in the red, white and blue spirit by drinking some red-, white- and blue-colored drinks. “We wanted to make a few cocktails that represent the holiday,” said Tabú bartender Matt Nichols. “(We tried) to take a culinary approach to the drinks, incorporating some classic cocktails with some newer, fresh ingredients.”

Red Julip
A twist on the classic mint julep, the Red Julip calls for Maker’s Mark bourbon, muddled fresh raspberries and mint leaves, a dash of pomegranate juice, lemon juice and simple syrup. Topping off the red libation is club soda and a garnish of raspberries and mint leaves. Representing the blue (and the tequila lovers) is the Blue Sparkler. Using Don Julio blanco tequila as its base, the refreshing summer cocktail is mixed with Cointreau, blue Curaçao, lemon juice, pineapple juice and a splash of sour mix and garnished with a pineapple wedge. Rounding out the holiday spirit is the White Night, a drink that looks more like a winter drink but because of its ingredients, is superb for summertime. The creamy concoction is mixed with Malibu rum, Frangelico, Rumple Minze and cream and then strained over ice and decorated with raspberries and blueberries.

Blue Sparkler
The intimate lounge has plenty of space to dance to top DJs spinning top 40s, mashups and electronic music. You’ll be doing a double take as your drinks are served by model cocktail servers, while the go-go dancers gyrate and high-tech special effects play out on the walls. Special guests are always popping in to party or to host, so come to Tabú for the Fourth of July cocktails (available till the end of the month) and stay for the fun.
