The D, 301 Fremont St., 10 p.m. Oct. 13, free. 702.388.2400
In the official unveiling of a new player downtown, The D Las Vegas gets Fremont Street jumping with a weeklong grand opening celebration, kicking off Oct. 13. To get the party started, bandana-and-cowboy hat-wearing rocker Bret Michaels performs on the 3rd Street Stage adjacent to The D. Michaels is currently touring promoting and playing songs from his new album Get Your Rock On, but stops back in Vegas to join the festivities.
Renovations for The D, formerly Fitzgeralds, have been taking place for the last year. Highlights include 638 remodeled rooms and suites, the addition of the Longbar and the flair bartending D Bar that sits on the Fremont Street Experience. For those who come to Vegas for the gaming, The D does not disappoint. Gaming renovations across two stories include the latest slot machines and table games watched over by hot dancing dealers; up on the second floor, those who miss the clink-clink of coins are in luck as the aptly named Vintage Casino goes old-school with pumped-up neon décor and coin-operated slots.
Closing The D shindig on Oct. 20 is rock-pop band OneRepublic with another free concert.
