Not everyone can sing like Roger Daltrey or shred like Warren Haynes, but for a weekend, you can get as close as possible with Rock ’n’ Roll Fantasy Camp, an interactive experience that pairs campers with rock icons.
On Nov. 7-11, the camp welcomes guest instructors Haynes, Jack Bruce, John Popper and Jeff “Skunk” Baxter. Packages vary, but most include daily master classes and jam sessions with guest instructors, the opportunity to perform live onstage, commemorative DVDs, swag bags and accommodations at MGM Grand. All proficiency levels are welcome, from novice to pro, and campers have the chance to write, record and perform an original song along with their instructors.
While the three- and five-day packages aren’t for everyone, the Rock Star for a Day program makes Rock ’n’ Roll Fantasy Camp affordable and feasible for the average rocker. Two-, three- and four-hour jam sessions with top touring musicians are available in all skill levels and genres (country blues to heavy metal) at a fully outfitted studio just west of the Strip.
