Patrons of The Pearl at Palms are used to seeing top musical artists, comedians, even mixed martial arts fighters. But the venue’s latest show brings in a different kind of performer: chefs. TV personalities Anthony Bourdain (No Reservations, The Layover) and Eric Ripert (Top Chef, Avec Eric) are appearing at The Pearl. Unfortunately, they are not cooking for the hundreds of people in the audience. Instead they will “share stories and muse on the place of food in our personal, community and global life.”
In addition to being great chefs and familiar TV faces, Bourdain and Ripert are both great storytellers. Bourdain has written a number of books, including his 2000 memoir Kitchen Confidential, which first brought him national attention. And Ripert, owner of Le Bernardin, was a regular fixture on Bourdain’s No Reservations. He recounts the inspiration behind various dishes on his PBS series Avec Eric.
