Although the Grateful Dead officially broke up in 1995 after the death of singer-guitarist Jerry Garcia, the band’s ethos has been carried on by dozens of other artists in the jam band scene. The former band members have been carrying on the Dead’s legacy as well, with Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Phil Lesh having toured together in various incarnations over the last decade or so.

Lesh’s ever-changing group Phil Lesh and Friends will be performing in Vegas with the former Dead bassist and vocalist at the helm as always, along with Black Crowes guitarist Jackie Greene, jazz guitarist John Scofield, keyboardist John Medeski (of Medeski Martin & Wood) and drummer Joe Russo, who’s also played with post-Dead project Furthur.

Those are just a handful of the musicians who’ve played with Lesh’s band over the years, performing a mix of Dead songs, other classic rock staples and original compositions, all augmented by the long, multilayered jams that defined the Dead sound. Thanks to Lesh and his friends, the Dead continues to live on.
