Human Nature has come a long way since its first Las Vegas show in May 2009 at Imperial Palace. The four guys out of Sydney, Australia, started as teenagers singing doo-wop in 1989 as The 4 Trax, then moved on to Motown hits, and on a whim, dropped in on Smokey Robinson to sing him their harmonies.

“The first time I saw them was in a studio in Los Angeles,” Robinson reminisced. “I just brought them to Las Vegas because they were ready when I saw them.”

The quartet just celebrated their 1,000th show in Vegas, and now performs at the Sands Showroom at The Venetian. Andrew Tierney, Toby Allen, Phil Burton and Michael Tierney—who joke that they’re four white Aussies singing Motown—bring the Motor City hits alive with their seven-piece band The Funk Foundation backing.

“We just wanted to make great music that everyone would enjoy,” Burton says.

You can’t help but want to dance and sing along to hits such as “Just My Imagination,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” and “My Girl” and you may even learn some dance moves during “Stop! In the Name of Love.” Then they’ll harmonize their way to your heart with what Robinson calls the best version of his “Ooo Baby Baby” sung a cappella. Here’s to another 1,000 shows.
