These days, Justin Bieber gets most of his attention from his run-ins with the law and ill-advised public behavior, but a few short years ago he was a fresh-faced teen sharing his raw talents via videos on YouTube. Pop-music fans nostalgic for those long-gone days should look to teen pop singer Austin Mahone, who, like Bieber, first attracted attention by posting YouTube videos of himself covering popular songs (including, of course, Justin Bieber songs).

At 18, Mahone has already amassed his own legion of incredibly dedicated fans (known as “Mahomies”) and has released hits like “Say Somethin’” and “Mmm Yeah.” Although he has yet to put out a full album, he’s toured as an opening act for Taylor Swift and has collaborated with Pitbull and Flo Rida. On his headlining tour, Mahone showcases songs from his two EPs, with more elaborate choreography and set pieces than he’s been able to use so far. Fellow young pop up-and-comers Fifth Harmony, The Vamps and Shawn Mendes join Mahone on tour, all endorsed as part of tour sponsor MTV’s Artists to Watch. Catch them now before they, too, get caught up in the celebrity machine.
