Goo Goo Dolls, Daughtry and the Plain White T’s represent mainstream rock from the mid-’90s to the present. Goo Goo Dolls broke into Billboard’s top five in 1995 with the pop hit “Name” after building a fan base with a series of harder-rocking albums. It would have a No. 1 hit three years later with “Iris,” around the time Plain White T’s were gelling as a live act. They had a monster No. 1 in 2005 with “Hey There Delilah,” setting the stage for hits from 2008’s Big Bad World. Chris Daughtry, meanwhile, parlayed a top four finish in season five of American Idol into a No. 1 album in 2006.

All three acts carved out careers with incessant touring and more recording success after their breakthroughs, but 2013 found both Goo Goo Dolls and Daughtry releasing new albums—Magnetic and Baptized, respectively. Plain White T’s released the EP Should’ve Gone to Bed in April 2013 and have a new album wrapped and ready to go. While the bands haven’t toured together before, it’s not likely that fans at the Aug. 1 Red Rock show will be taking any blackjack breaks during the triple bill. Goo Goo Dolls fans might notice a different drummer, though, as longtime member Mike Malinin is no longer with the band as of December.
