It’s been five years since Matchbox Twenty singer Rob Thomas released his last solo album (2009’s Cradlesong), but he’s dipping his toes back in the solo-performance waters with a monthlong tour, and Las Vegas is one of the cities that will get to see a career-spanning set. Although his solo career encompasses just two albums (he’s at work on a third), it spawned hits such as “Lonely No More,” “This Is How a Heart Breaks” and “Her Diamonds.” That’s nothing compared to the hits that Thomas racked up with Matchbox Twenty, including “3 A.M.,” “Push,” “If You’re Gone” and “Unwell.”

After a hiatus, Matchbox Twenty returned with fourth album North in 2012, and has been touring in support of it pretty much ever since. Now Thomas is once again turning his attention to his solo work, and this tour promises music from throughout his career. That’ll mean a little bit from Matchbox Twenty, a little bit from his solo albums and almost certainly the massive hit “Smooth,” which he co-wrote and performed with Santana. As a solo artist, Thomas is just getting started.
