When The Venetian announced its Lipshtick series of performances by female comedians, the schedule was filled with stand-up veterans like Lisa Lampanelli, Caroline Rhea and Rita Rudner, but the series, curated by Whitney Cummings, has also been supportive of newer performers, two of whom make join the series, Sept. 12-13.

Natasha Leggero and Jen Kirkman have both been regulars on Chelsea Lately, and they’ve both made numerous TV appearances, recorded comedy albums and written books, so it’s not like they’re comedy newcomers. But they’re both still building their audiences one performance at a time, teaming up with other comedians to reach new fans.

Leggero has had prominent roles on short-lived sitcoms Free Agents and Are You There, Chelsea?, as well as guest appearances on popular comedies like Community, Arrested Development and The League. She’s also done voice work in animation, showing a flair for creating characters with just a few vocal inflections. With a new stand-up special and a new scripted comedy series on the way, Leggero is poised to be a break-out star.

Kirkman also has her own sitcom in the works and has been making some notable guest appearances on shows like Drunk History and @Midnight. Like Leggero, she’s acerbic and smart, with a strong point of view.

The Venetian, 10 p.m. Sept. 12, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13, starting at $52.25 plus tax and fee. 702.414.9000
