It’s been four years since Incubus last released a full-length album, but that doesn’t mean that the Southern California alt-rockers haven’t been busy. In May, they released Trust Fall (Side A), the first of two planned EPs for 2015 (which will combine to make a full album), acknowledging the way that music consumer habits have changed, even for veteran bands.

Incubus recently wrapped up a tour with the Deftones, and they’ll be playing for two nights in Las Vegas, Sept. 5-6. They continue working on new material while on tour, with the second part of Trust Fall set for release later this year. In the meantime, fans can hear songs from the first EP, and maybe a bit of newer material.

Of course, Incubus’ career also goes back more than 20 years. Hits like “Drive,” “Megalomaniac,” “Anna Molly” and “Pardon Me” meld catchy hooks with hard-rock riffs and a dash of oddball creativity. Incubus has never relied on the conventional, from their early days mixing funk into their rock sound to their inclusion of a DJ in their lineup at a time when rock bands almost never mixed with electronic musicians. Even when they seem quiet, they’re exploring new territory.
