Wherever she appears, Jennifer Coolidge is always funny. That’s impressive when she’s playing now-iconic characters like Stifler’s mom in the American Pie movies or Paulette the manicurist in Legally Blonde and its sequel, and it’s impressive when she’s working with comedy genius Christopher Guest in his improvised mockumentaries. But it’s most impressive when Coolidge shows up in forgettable movies like the bargain-basement parodies Epic Movie and Date Movie, and still makes her onscreen moments funny and entertaining.

Audience members at Coolidge’s Feb. 21 show at The Venetian (part of the Lipshtick series that highlights female comedians) will get to experience her offbeat humor without having to sit through a mediocre movie. Coolidge has been a fixture in movies and on television (she currently co-stars on CBS’ 2 Broke Girls and has an upcoming recurring role on the final season of Glee) for more than 20 years, but she started her career as a member of improv troupe the Groundlings, so she has plenty of experience performing in front of live audiences.

“I was excited that someone took the risk to book an all-female cast,” Whitney Cummings, a series regular and also the co-creator of 2 Broke Girls, recently told the Los Angeles Times about Lipshtick. With Coolidge, that’s a risk worth taking.
