There’s really no shame in classic rockers getting their bands back together. One group that hasn’t gotten on that bandwagon, though, is Led Zeppelin, and singer Robert Plant has been the most vocal proponent of the former members continuing to pursue their own musical endeavors. Plant certainly practices what he preaches; he’s also always pushing his own music forward via his solo albums and collaborations. Even when he reunited with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page for two albums in the ’90s, the focus was on creating new songs and reinventing old ones. Plant received widespread critical acclaim and an Album of the Year Grammy for his 2007 collaboration with country singer Alison Krauss on Raising Sand, a mix of blues, folk and Americana.

Plant’s most recent solo album is last year’s Lullaby and … The Ceaseless Roar. His recent shows have featured a mix of songs from that album along with Led Zeppelin classics, although Plant always puts new spins on his old tunes when he plays them in concert, such as the one here May 28. He could easily rest on his laurels, but he remains dedicated to continued musical experimentation.
