David Coverdale has worked with some of the greatest musicians in rock history. The singer started his career by joining Deep Purple in 1973, playing with classic members Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Paice and Jon Lord. And in 1993 he toured and released an album with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, under the name Coverdale-Page. But despite collaborating with those titans of rock, Coverdale is still best known for his longtime group Whitesnake , which he founded in 1978 and continues to front to this day.

Whitesnake was responsible for massive hits like “Is This Love” and “Here I Go Again,” all from the band’s 1987 self-titled album. After starting out with a blues-rock sound, Whitesnake embraced pop hooks and rose to popularity among the glam-metal acts of the ’80s, but the group has always had deeper musical roots than so-called “hair bands.” Over the years, the lineup has included accomplished musicians like guitarist Steve Vai and several of Coverdale’s former Deep Purple bandmates, and the current lineup features guitar virtuoso Reb Beach. All these years later, Coverdale is still working with rock’s best.
