This year, local radio station Mix 94.1 has recruited stars Rob Thomas and Adam Lambert to perform at its annual Not So Silent Night holiday concert, hosted by popular morning DJ Mercedes.
Thomas is both the singer for veteran pop-rock band Matchbox Twenty and a successful solo artist in his own right. Starting in 1996, Matchbox Twenty has released a steady stream of hits, including “Push,” “Real World,” “If You’re Gone” and “Unwell.” As a solo artist, Thomas has more of a pop sensibility, with hits like “Lonely No More,” “This Is How a Heart Breaks” and “Her Diamonds.” And he’s worked as a songwriter and guest performer with other artists, most notably as the singer and co-writer of Santana’s massively successful single “Smooth.”
Lambert, who was the runner-up on the eighth season of American Idol , is both a fantastic singer and a captivating performer, just as comfortable with dance-pop as he is with classic rock (he’s fronted Queen on the legendary band’s last several tours). As a solo artist, he specializes in catchy, danceable pop songs, but he might break out a Queen tune or two as well.
Together, Thomas and Lambert make for a great holiday present.
