Mexican Independence Day has become a big celebration in Las Vegas, and this year is at the center of the action with a whole week of concerts featuring Latino artists. Kicking off that week are Mexican legend Marco Antonio Solís and rock band Camila. Solís has been performing since he was 6 years old, and creating hits since the 1970s. Solís started his career in the band Los Bukis alongside cousin Joel Solís, and they became one of the most popular acts in Latin America, thanks to songs that Solís wrote and sang, including landmark debut single “Falso Amor.”

In 1995, Solís left Los Bukis to launch a solo career, and he’s only become more successful since, with a worldwide following and a series of hit albums. His most recent studio album is 2013’s Gracias Por Estar Aqui, which spawned the hit singles “Tres Semanas” and “Renuncio a Estar Contigo,” both of which topped the singles charts in Mexico. The album was nominated for awards at both the Grammys and the Latin Grammys, taking home an award at the Latin Grammys for the song “De Mil Amores.” Over the course of his career, Solís has picked up five Latin Grammys.
