Veteran rock bands seem to be constantly mounting farewell tours, only to return to the stage a few years later (or even more quickly). Still, when a classic band like the Go-Go’s announces that its latest tour will be its last, the smart move is to seize the opportunity, since you never know if it will really be the last one. Go-Go’s fans would want to catch the band’s latest tour even if it wasn’t billed as the end, since the band has been in top-notch shape over the last several years, with regular tours following a reunion in 1999. Their sunny, smart brand of pop-rock has been influential on modern acts, too, and this latest tour includes singer-songwriter Kaya Stewart and indie rockers Best Coast as opening acts.

During their ’80s heyday, the Go-Go’s notched massive hits like “Vacation,” “We Got the Beat” and “Our Lips Are Sealed,” all of which they’ll certainly be performing as part of their long goodbye. The all-female band combined punk energy with pop hooks for a winning formula, rocking out at a time when most pop-oriented bands were embracing synths. They’ll be rocking out one final time on this tour—at least for now.
