Between the two of them, R&B/soul singer-songwriters Maxwell and Mary J. Blige have soundtracked hundreds if not thousands of baby-making sessions, so it’s appropriate that their joint tour is dubbed the King and Queen of Hearts Tour.

Both singers emerged in the ’90s, with Blige’s debut What’s the 411? released in 1992, and Maxwell’s debut Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite released in 1996. Since then, Blige has been remarkably prolific, releasing a total of 13 studio albums, while Maxwell has been more methodical, taking years between releases (2016’s blackSUMMERS’night is his first album in seven years). For this tour, the performers have promised to mix things up, but of course they will be bringing the hits, including Blige’s “No More Drama” and “Not Gon’ Cry” and Maxwell’s “Pretty Wings” and “This Woman’s Work.” “This isn’t just a love fest for people who have followed our music,” Maxwell told Billboard. “This is a celebration of New York, R&B/soul music and the ’90s.”
