Songstress Lisa Fischer’s phenomenal vocal range and her audience connection makes an evening of music with the artist memorable. For more than 30 years, Fischer was a backup singer for iconic acts such as Tina Turner, the Rolling Stones, Nine Inch Nails and Chaka Khan. Her 1991 Grammy-winning R&B hit “How Can I Ease The Pain” and a duet with Mick Jagger on “Gimme Shelter” brought her major attention in the music industry.

Her appearance in the Oscar-winning 2013 documentary Twenty Feet from Stardom featured her vocal and acting talents and earned her a second Grammy. Now she’s bringing her considerable talents to the Smith Center. “Grand Baton and I will be doing songs that are in my DNA as a background singer and as an artist,” she said. “We try to weave and breathe those worlds together while we play in that melodic dream space coupled with other musical travelings.”

Fischer will perform a wide variety of songs—everything from the music of Led Zeppelin and Little Willie John to progressive rock, Caribbean rhythms and much more.
