The Gin Blossoms are survivors. The pop-rockers from Tempe, Ariz., began their career in the shadow of tragedy, after original guitarist Doug Hopkins died before seeing his songs “Hey Jealousy” and “Found Out About You” become huge hits. But the band persevered, with further hits including “Follow You Down,” “Until I Fall Away” and “Til I Hear It From You” during the height of its popularity in the ’90s.

Facing waning success, the band broke up in 1997, but the members came back together in 2002, and since then they’ve resisted becoming a nostalgia act, recording two new albums, and charting new singles (including “Learning the Hard Way” and “Miss Disarray”) on the adult alternative and adult contemporary charts. They’ve proven resilient, attracting new listeners while appealing to early fans. Guitarist Jesse Valenzuela recently told the Arizona Republic, “...We have a lot of fans who are interested in the music, so if we put something out there’s an audience for it.” What else could a band ask for?
