Thirty-five years and counting—do you think he’s won over Jessie’s girl by now? Or is Rick Springfield still pining away for the sexy gal from his 1981 hit?

Likely he’s still doing it—musically speaking—in an enduring career that has bounced from his heartthrob days in the ’80s as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital (a role to which he occasionally returns, most recently in 2013) through a Vegas stint from 2001-’02 in EFX Alive! and into contemporary TV projects such as Californication, Hawaii Five-O and True Detective, and alongside Meryl Streep in the film Ricki and the Flash. Yet highlighting it all is the man’s music—hits that also include top-10 singles “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “I’ve Done Everything for You,” “Affair of the Heart” and “Love Somebody.” Toss in his two top-10 albums, Working Class Dog and Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet.

Oh, and lest we forget, “Jessie’s Girl,” which nabbed a Grammy Award for Springfield as best male rock vocal performance.
