In an era when so many indie and alternative bands are embracing dance-pop and electronic sounds, the guys in Cage the Elephant are still unapologetic rockers. The Kentucky band’s latest album, Tell Me I’m Pretty, was produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, another contemporary band still committed to rocking. The four core members of the group, including brothers Matt and Brad Shultz, have been friends since childhood, and that closeness contributes to their musical camaraderie onstage.

Since releasing their self-titled debut in 2008, Cage have been one of the most consistent bands in rock, with hits like “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked,” “Shake Me Down” and “Come a Little Closer.” and they’ve toured with rock heavyweights like Muse, Queens of the Stone Age and the Foo Fighters. Rolling Stone called Tell Me I’m Pretty “melodically taut garage rock with psychedelic flourishes and a fighting edge,” and Matt Shultz recently told the Columbus Dispatch, “I think it’s one of the first records we’ve ever made that actually captured our live energy.” That live energy will be on full display when the band hits the stage, rocking out in a way that’s become increasingly rare.
