Whenever comedian Jo Koy performs in Las Vegas, it’s a bit of a homecoming: Although Koy was born in Washington state, he came to Las Vegas as a teenager to be closer to his extended family and to attend UNLV. He launched his career here in 1994, first at local open-mic nights and then at the Catch a Rising Star comedy club, when it was located at the MGM Grand. Koy even rented out the historic Huntridge Theater to put on his own comedy shows.

These days, Koy’s time in Las Vegas is limited to family visits and performances at places like Treasure Island, where he appears March 18. After getting his break on BET’s Comic View, Koy has become a TV staple on comedic commentary shows like the VH1 I Love the … series and World’s Dumbest … on Tru TV. He also spent several seasons as a regular roundtable guest on E!’s Chelsea Lately with host Chelsea Handler. His biggest successes still come onstage, though, and he tours relentlessly, bringing his positive humor about his family and his Filipino heritage to audiences around the country—including, possibly, some of the people who saw his very first shows here in Las Vegas.
