The rock bands that have taken up limited residencies at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel read like a who’s who of hard rock royalty: Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Guns N’ Roses, Kiss, Journey. Two names will be added to that list when headliners the Scorpions are joined by Queensrÿche for a new Joint residency.

The Scorpions trace their origins all the way back to the early 1970s, but their biggest hits came in the ’80s, with catchy, energetic songs like “Rock You Like a Hurricane,” “No One Like You” and “Big City Nights.” The German band’s most famous song is still the power ballad “Wind of Change,” the 1991 single that became an anthem for the fall of Communism. Singer Klaus Meine and guitarist Rudolf Schenker have anchored the band since its earliest days, and they are still creating new music, most recently with 2015 album Return to Forever.

They’ll be joined by frequent tour-mates Queensrÿche, who also boast big ’80s and ’90s hits (“Jet City Woman,” “Eyes of a Stranger,” “Silent Lucidity”), and are also still putting out new material (with 2015 album Condition Hüman). Both bands are worthy additions to the pantheon of Joint residents.
