“All the music we have picked is melodic, and we look for the magic,” said Three Dog Night founder and lead vocalist Danny Hutton recently. He took time out from a hectic touring schedule to chat a little about the band’s four decades of success and how they accrued 21 consecutive top 40 hits. The band’s incredible history of hits has appeared on best-selling charts in pop, rock and country genres. And happily, that’s what you’ll hear during Three Dog Night’s concert at The Orleans.

“Our songs are all about emotions, or party songs. We are not political and we don’t preach,” he said. Choruses are important to the music, he explained, and added that even if you didn’t understand English, you would still like the music.

“If you like our records, that’s what you’ll hear,” commented Hutton, who believes fans come out to hear the hits. He jokes that if audiences don’t hear the songs they expect, you would see some people leaving to take a bathroom break!

Unlikely that will happen as the band performs their No. 1 songs “Mama Told Me (Not to Come),” “Joy to the World” and “Black and White,” not to mention dozens of other memorable hits.
