One of the great things about nostalgia tours is the way that they bring together so many star acts that might never have been featured on the same bill decades earlier. A show featuring Salt-N-Pepa, Tone Loc, Kid ’n Play, Rob Base, Young MC and Kool Moe Dee would have been one of the hottest, most exclusive hip-hop tours of the ’90s, and now all of those acts are joining together in 2016 for the I Love the ’90s tour, providing hip-hop fans an opportunity to see a concert they never had the chance to catch back in the day. It’s all part of Mandalay Bay Beach’s ongoing Concerts on the Beach series.

Headliners Salt-N-Pepa, one of music’s first all-female rap groups, are pioneers for women in hip-hop, producing iconic hits like “Push It,” “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “Shoop” and “Whatta Man,” selling millions of albums worldwide in the process. Salt-N-Pepa and their fellow performers are responsible for some of the seminal songs of ’80s and ’90s hip-hop. Anyone who grew up in that era remembers Tone Loc’s “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina.” Kid ’n Play ruled the airwaves with “Funhouse” and “Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody,” not to mention producing a motion picture cult classic with House Party. Rob Base’s “It Takes Two,” Young MC’s “Bust a Move” and Kool Moe Dee’s “Wild Wild West” all helped define the decade.

Now hip-hop fans can hear all of those hits and more in one place. Their younger selves would be seriously jealous.
