Even the most successful performers in classical music and opera rarely reach beyond the same audiences at concert halls and cultural centers, which are devoted but can be limited. So for Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli to be consistently filling arenas for nearly two decades is a pretty amazing feat, even as he’s mixed his classical music with more accessible pop. Bocelli remains one of the most popular singers in the world, recording operas, classical standards and collaborations with pop stars.

Bocelli’s 1999 album Sacred Arias remains the all-time best-selling classical album by a solo artist, and he’s recorded duets with pop stars including Sarah Brightman, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige and Christina Aguilera. Bocelli’s most recent album is 2015’s Cinema, featuring his versions of songs from movie soundtracks, with appearances from Ariana Grande, Nicole Scherzinger and Bocelli’s wife Veronica Berti. On his current tour, Bocelli is joined by pop singer Katharine McPhee and Puerto Rican classical soprano Ana Maria Martinez, both of whom help him bring to life his collection of arias, traditional favorites and pop-crossover hits.
