There’s a popular meme in which a distraught Ace Ventura is unable to decide which hurts worse after having arrows fired into both legs. To some, this accurately depicts the struggle to dissect the seemingly psychotic election season that is Clinton vs. Trump; yet, there are others who yank the arrows from their legs and, in a fit of rage, fire them right back. Enter the Prophets of Rage, a rap/metal supergroup that aims to “confront this mountain of election year bullsh*t with Marshall stacks blazing.”

The band was born from the ashes of Rage Against the Machine, with Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk joining forces with Cypress Hill’s B-Real along with DJ Lord and Chuck D of Public Enemy. The recently released The Party’s Over EP contains renditions of some of the members’ best known work, such as “Killing in the Name,” “Prophets of Rage” and “Shut ‘Em Down.” The songs are reworked with guitar riffs that make you want to flip over someone’s proverbial apple cart, while the lyrics remain as fresh as ever, speaking for those who feel the political system has failed them, leaving them with no choice but to rage.
