El Loco

El Loco

Your blood is about to pump. Your pulse is about to race. Your adrenaline is about to surge. You’re in Vegas, baby—and this is the place for adrenaline-surging fun. Here’s some options to give your system a jolt.

El Loco Adventuredome 702.794.3906 Thrill rides don’t get much crazier than this aptly named steel roller coaster that’s a twist-tastic, belly-dropping whirlwind. Catapulting riders 90 feet in the air before rocketing them over and under at up to 45 mph into a 1.5 vertical-G plunge, it’s a head-spinning experience. Four-person, open-design cars—each seat outfitted with speakers to enjoy a customized soundtrack—approximate the feel (minus the fear) of flying.

VooDoo Zipline Rio 702.388.0477 Taking off from atop the hotel’s 50-story Masquerade Tower and extending across to its Ipanema Tower, this 70-second experience has riders soaring 400 feet into the open air and across more than 800 feet at up to 33 mph, providing not only a rush of excitement, but also 360-degree views of the Las Vegas Valley.

SkyJump Stratosphere 702.380.7777 Freefalling from the tower’s 108th floor? If just thinking about that doesn’t spike your pulse rate, you might want to check to be sure you have one. An open-air leap in a harness from 829 feet above the Strip, Skyjump is a bungee-style controlled drop with the rider in a jumpsuit connected to a “descender” machine that eventually slows for a perfect landing. Some hours later, your pulse will slow as well. Probably.

Dream Racing 702.605.3000 Got an itchy pedal foot you’re craving to drop to the metal? Drop it at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where you can slide behind the wheel of “supercars”—Lamborghinis, Porsches, Ferraris—and take a few spins around the track. Get outfitted in a racing suit and helmet, learn the curves in a simulator and take some super-speedy laps. Here’s your chance to get properly adrenalized.

Exotics Racing 702.405.7223 Hey, as long as you’re idling at the Speedway, choose from a literal superstore of cool cars that also includes a Bond-style Aston Martin, Corvette Z06 and Nissan GT-R. Get coaching from French racing champ Romain Thievin and NASCAR Euro champ David Perisset. Then take an exhilarating ride around the track with seven turns, a high-speed banked bowl and 1,800-feet straightaway. Phew!

Richard Petty Driving Experience 800.237.3889 Don’t leave yet! This time around, settle into the driver’s seat of a genuine NASCAR driving demon that will get you as close to the feel of the real action as you’ll ever get. With a 600-horsepower engine at the ready, hit the track for a pulse-pounding ride or, if you prefer to ride shotgun, let one of the experts do the driving at speeds up to 165 mph. Mr. P would be proud.
