Are The Avett Brothers the most famous band most people have never heard of? When bringing them up in conversation, a common retort is, “Who’s that?” But go to a show and you’ll be shoulder to shoulder in a crowd full of diehard fans that swoon for the band’s Americana music, much of which is tinged with emotional sadness. Scott and Seth—the two brothers—share lead singing duties. The former strums the banjo as the latter picks the guitar. On the road, the band expands as more players create a down-home wall of sound.

“I and Love and You” might be the best-known song for the American folk rockers, a catchy tune that might have your neighbors in tears as they sing along. “Ain’t No Man” is a jam made for a hootenanny. “Shame” features Scott and Keith showing off their impressive harmonizing prowess. No doubt their Vegas show will feel more like a barnstorming than a quaint evening of folk tunes. You’ll be happy that “Brooklyn, Brooklyn” took you in.
