There are many honors in music, but only one band can claim to be the favorite of David Letterman. In fact, the former host of The Late Show so loves Blues Traveler that the jam rock outfit has the record for number of appearances on Letterman’s show.

Sure, Dave was an early adapter, but by the time 1994 rolled around, Blues Traveler was essential to mainstream rock music. John Popper, the physically imposing frontman, not only won crowds over with his delightful voice, but with his ferocious ability on the harmonica. The album Four was all over the radio, first with the single “Run Around,” which was ubiquitous to all aspects of pop culture, then with “Hook,” which features an epic vocal breakdown.

Blues Traveler staked its claim as a great live act playing marathon jam sessions, creating the H.O.R.D.E tour, and holding an Independence Day celebration just about every year at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. This new gig, Blues Traveler Unhooked, promises a more intimate evening with the band, an acoustic storytelling session that lets fans get up close and personal. It’s just another notch in the belt for a band that has many of them.
