In the U.S., April Wine is known for hits like “You Could Have Been a Lady,” “Bad Side of the Moon,” “Roller,” “I Like to Rock” and “Just Between You and Me.” But in its native Canada, April Wine is a classic-rock institution that has been going strong almost nonstop since the ’70s. Led by original frontman Myles Goodwyn, along with longtime guitarist Brian Greenway, the band is to be a touring staple.

The band’s meat-and-potatoes rock fits in well with fellow Canadian rock bands like Bachman-Turner Overdrive and the Guess Who, along with classic-rock titans from The Who to the Rolling Stones—for whom April Wine once opened at a secret show in Toronto, immortalized on the band’s 1977 live album Live at the El Mocambo. April Wine may not quite be the Canadian equivalent of the Rolling Stones, but they’re close to a national treasure, and when the very Canadian sport of curling has its world championship in Vegas, the Orleans knows that April Wine is exactly right to book.
