It would be nearly impossible to overstate the importance of Mystère to the city of Las Vegas. The Cirque du Soleil show was the first one ever performed in Sin City and now anchors many successful Cirque productions on The Strip.

Mystère, which debuted on Christmas 1993, marked the first time a production show of this magnitude was given its own theater instead of a mobile circus tent, thereby upping the ante on the luxury and audience experience.

Directed by the legendary Franco Dragone, who also helmed Cirque’s water-based mesmerizing Las Vegas hit, “O”, Mystère is filled with acts often created from original backgrounds: There are The Asicots, aka The Double Faces, who thrill with their work on the Chinese Pole, and The Archangels (Les Laquais), who bounce one another into the air via the Korean plank (or teeterboard). And then there’s Alice, a giant inflatable snail that grows throughout the show.

Mystère is also filled with comedy. Brian Le Petit has been a favorite character since 2000. He’s a mischievous clown who breaks up performances onstage and also goes into the crowd, taking audience members’ popcorn and creating an uproar.

Now, more than 25 years into its run, Mystère remains a vital element of Las Vegas entertainment.
