It might escape you as you take your taxi or Uber to your hotel room from Harry Reid International Airport, but once you’re ensconced in your hotel room, get this: In two hours, you could be enjoying one of the natural wonders of the world—the Grand Canyon. And lest you think the experience is just staring off into the expanse from one of the ridges, think again! Grand Canyon West features some of the most exhilarating ways to experience this paradise.

The best thing about Grand Canyon West is that an experience there is completely customizable. You can choose to Build Your Own Adventure, where, in addition to general admission, you can add on a visit to the world-famous Skywalk, a zipline adventure (sorry, but you have to be at least 4 feet or taller, weigh between 90 to 275 pounds and be able to climb staircases without assistance for this particular option) or a helicopter ride over the West Rim (packages start from $68).

You can choose from so many other experiences as well:

• If you’re budget-conscious, opt for the Grand Package, which includes general admission to Grand Canyon West and a ticket to the Skywalk. You’ll want to start your experience with the great views at Guano Point and Eagle Point, which are included with admission to Grand Canyon West;

• If you’re a planning on spending a bit more time and are planning on a sit-down meal, order the Grander Package, which, in addition to general admission and the Skywalk pass, includes one meal ticket (starting from $93). This allows you to dine at Sky View Restaurant, boasting some of the best views you’ll have from any eatery in the world, and its menu offerings cater to both carnivores and vegetarians, from a chef salad with diced ham and turkey to an Impossible Burger with your choice of Swiss or American cheese. Other dining options include Guano Point Café (the vegetarian curry vegetables are highly recommended) and Gwe Ma’jo Restaurant (you’ve gotta try the Hualapai pinion stew with a side of frybread; a vegetarian version is also available).

• If you want to make your friends back home jealous, book the Grandest Package, which, in addition to general admission and a Skywalk pass, includes a helicopter flight to the West Rim and a pontoon ride on the Colorado River (starting from $367);

• If you want to make it a truly unforgettable experience, you have to get the Grandiose Package, where every activity is better than the next: lunch on the banks of the Colorado River; a moderate hike to Travertine Falls; and a guided one-day whitewater rafting trip (starting from $429);

• West of the rim is Peach Springs, Ariz., the capital of the Hualapai nation, where you can catch a whitewater rafting adventure on the Colorado River or grab a bite to eat in the Diamond Creek restaurant, where you can enjoy bananas Foster frybread, open face hot beef on Texas toast, and the 12-inch Hualapai taco.

Best of all, by ordering your tickets early, you get to skip the ticket line—just like the fast passes at Disney World!
