Palms hotel served as a catapult for Cary Mano’s career. “Some of the best years of my life ... were (spent) working at Rain nightclub,” he said. “It was so much fun in the heyday. We were the ‘it’ club at the time.” Mano is talking about the early 2000s when he moved from his hometown of L.A. to take a bartending job at Rain. Eventually Mano would gain experience in many Palms’ venues; last year he became the general manager of Ghostbar. Mano now oversees the operations of Ghostbar Dayclub (GBDC), too, helping to implement the daytime party from start to finish.

Back for its fifth season, GBDC has rightly earned the reputation of being one of the original and most “insane day parties around, there’s nothing like it still,” Mano said. This year, the dayclub focuses on having social media influencers hosting the events, said Mano.

Among the showers of confetti, neon lights and wild costumes, you can find Mano working the room, making sure all guests, including VIPs, are well taken care of. “Everyone is here to wile out at the party,” Mano said. “I like how people come here just in the fall and winter, just for GBDC. It’s become a Saturday ritual.”

Mano has worked within the industry long enough to know what makes a party good, and he said this is one that tops them all. “If you haven’t been here, if you don’t know, you have to experience GBDC once … and you’ll definitely be back,” he said.

Besides the famous 40-ounce beers in brown bags, the flamingo-shaped beer bong known as the Flabongo and the new emoji bombs filled with alcohol, guests can order specialty cocktails like the Unicorn Punch. Served in a souvenir cup, or yardlong version, it mixes together Belvedere Wild Berry vodka, peach liqueur, Peychaud’s bitters, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, cinnamon syrup and ginger ale.
