Good times are just a splash away at Temptation Sundays at Luxor, and the Luxor pool’s Tia Connolly wants you to jump right in. “My goal: Make people feel special when they come out to Temptation,” Connolly said. She’s talking about the Strip’s long-running LGBT pool party, now in its sixth season. She runs the Pistol Pete’s cart in the pool area, and adds a lighthearted spirit to the venue.

“I dance, I get people happy before they go in,” said Connolly, who you can easily spot in her handmade rainbow-colored uniform. “I really want to stress that everyone should be themselves—lesbian, gay, transsexual, bisexual, straight, you can really just be yourself when you come here,” she said. “Nobody judges.”

As in past years, Luxor serves as the host hotel for Gay Days Las Vegas, which runs through Sept. 13. To coincide with the party week, Temptation hosts the city’s Pride Kick-Off Party also on Sunday. “It’s our biggest party week of the whole year,” Connolly said.

For more than 20 years, Connolly has been entertaining Vegas visitors, first as a performer at MGM Grand’s now-shuttered theme park, then at Studio 54 nightclub from the time it opened its doors to its closing. But for the past two seasons, she’s brought her larger-than-life personality to Temptation Sundays and has quickly become an integral part of the pool party. “You could say I’m the official mascot,” she said smiling.

Every season Temptation Sundays creates a couple of new cocktails. One is the Blackberry Crush. The lightly sweetened, totally refreshing drink mixes Absolut Citron vodka, rock candy syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, fresh blackberries and mint leaves, and is topped with a splash of Sierra Mist.
