Three years ago, Wendy Macias had a goal: becoming a model cocktail server at Wet Republic at MGM Grand. She didn’t become one then, but she kept her eye on the prize and bided her time, and Wet Republic is where you’ll find her today.

In her old job as hostess at a Vegas steakhouse, Macias “would see this group of gorgeous girls come in every week,” she said. “And I was like, ‘What do these girls do?’ They were so hot and everyone wanted to be their friend. So I talked to them, found out they worked at the best pools and nightclubs, (and) asked how they got where they are.” So as soon as Macias turned 21, she auditioned for Wet Republic. “Auditioning was the most intimidating thing I’ve ever done,” said the Mexico native, who was hired as a VIP cocktail server at Hakkasan (The Hakkasan Group owns both the day club and nightclub). “Luckily I got a call back. I was so excited. Even though it wasn’t for the pool, working at Hakkasan ended up being amazing.”

After working at the nightclub for nearly three years, Macias decided this year she would audition again for Wet Republic. “And I got it!” she said, smiling. While the surroundings and day schedule are new, so far she loves it. “The crowd and vibes are awesome, plus I get a tan.”

But Macias said what she cherishes the most “is giving people great customer service. At the end of the day, when they’re thanking me, that makes my day, because I’ve always worked really hard for that.”
