Joni Torres, spa director for Spa & Salon at Golden Nugget, is all things mind, body and soul. She’s licensed in cosmetology, advanced aesthetics, massage therapy, yoga and sound healing.
“I really do love learning and pursuing things that I’m passionate about and sharing those things that I’m passionate about and infusing those things into the everyday,” Torres, a California native, said. The everyday is her role at Golden Nugget, where she recently re-created the menu of services, manages the day-to-day operations, researches new treatments and product lines and supports her staff. “I love how intimate this spa is,” she said, joining the spa in 2015. “We also have a very passionate team.”
Before Golden Nugget, she had a long history of working in spas and salons, starting as a receptionist and working her way up while getting certified. When she switched over to management, all her past experience made her a better director, she said. “It all allowed me to better understand the operations of a spa.”
Torres is proud of the spa treatments that the Golden Nugget offers, as she thoughtfully created a menu of healing and renewal for guests. “Besides our full-service salon, we offer traditional massages with holistic and wellness body treatments; even our mani-pedis have a healing approach,” she said. “I think we’re a beacon for spas in Las Vegas. With all my licenses it aligns perfectly with me. I love what I do. I can’t imagine doing anything else. I’ve been on this path for so long.”
