Better have some money if you want to know what K. Michelle is all about. At least that’s her message in “Got Em Like” from her chartbusting third album for Atlantic Records, More Issues Than Vogue. It’s also her newest video, the concept of which took K. Michelle back to the strip club scene she worked in before VH-1’s Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta made her a reality television star. The show gave her a high-profile platform to resurrect her singing career after being dropped by Jive Records and she returned in 2013 with Rebellious Soul.

That album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B album charts and No. 2 on the Top 200, as did her March-released More Issues Than Vogue. The Memphis-born singer then launched the 20-date “Hello Kimberly” tour, complete with meet-and-greets and signings on behalf of her sponsor Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey. K. Michelle has proved herself to be a triple threat who can sing, act “and talk s---,” as Sirius XM radio host Sway told her, but although she often sounds like she has money on her mind, it’s not necessarily for her: Each month she pays the bills for two single-mother fans.
