Despicable Me minion, the cat-eared raver and the naval captain in a latex unicorn mask, the elevator ride 55 floors up to get into Ghostbar Dayclub is just a little bit atypical from the late-night lines at clubs around town. And those are just some of the tamer outfits from last year’s edition of the Palms’ daytime party, which returns for its fourth season this week. Confetti cannons, top DJ talent and neon go-go dancers are par for the course at GBDC, which takes over Ghostbar every Saturday through late spring and turns nightlife and daylife staples on their head. Bottle service? They have that (with appropriately crazy bottle presentations), but you can also get packages with a bunch of shot-size bottles of Jameson, Fireball, Don Julio, Jägermeister and other liquors. How about classing things down a notch with brown-bagged 40s or even a 121-ounce tube of beer for your group? Guests are encouraged to wear outrageous costumes and leave their inhibitions at the door. You never quite know what’ll happen: In the past, they’ve had costumed performers come in, delivered huge trays of cheeseburgers to guests and even brought in GBDC’s management to play bongo drums on the bar top. And the party doesn’t stop till the sun comes down. GBDC is also known for its themed parties, and a few are already scheduled for this season, including Day of the Killer Costumes on Nov. 1 (with a $5,000-in-prizes costume contest) and the Va-Va-Vroom SEMA takeover on Nov. 8 featuring car models. And if you’re coming for the season debut this weekend, show up early—the club offers complimentary champagne open bar from 1-2 p.m. Palms, opens at 1 p.m. Sat., 21+. 702.942.6832
