Restaurant Week is a magnificent opportunity
Looking for a good meal? How about a great one, at a great restaurant, where every bite you take can mean providing food for someone who might otherwise go hungry. That’s essentially the premise behind Las Vegas Restaurant Week, where venues all over the Las Vegas Valley commit several dollars of a prix fixe menu to support Three Square, in one of the food bank’s largest fundraising efforts all year. Last year, nearly $280,000 was raised, meaning about 690,000 meals for the food-insecure—that’s a lot of good done and a lot of great meals in the bellies of caring foodies.
From June 17-28, you’ll find meals of up to five courses at nearly 180 restaurants in Las Vegas, from breakfast to lunch in price points from $20 (yes, $20) to $80. That is a huge bargain for savvy diners who’d like to experience restaurants they’ve never been to before, like Buddy V’s at The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian and The Palazzo. Celebrity baker Buddy Valastro, known for his Cake Boss TV series, brought his family’s recipes and appreciation for Italian food to Las Vegas in 2013, and has since expanded to other cities. This year, you’ll find lunch and dinner menus there for $20 and $40 with a ton of options like Mediterranean sea bass, chicken Parm, My Dad’s Bucatini, panzanella and, of course, desserts like cannoli and “New Jersey”-style cheesecake.
Would you prefer French food? On helpoutdineoutlv.org, you can filter by price point or cuisine type, meaning it’s easy to locate a restaurant like Partage, a popular off-the-Strip newcomer, with a menu that changes out daily during Restaurant Week to take advantage of the freshest fish—it also offers a complimentary cheese plate as an added bonus.
Or narrow your venue by area—check out places on the Strip or close to it, like NoMad Restaurant at Park MGM (with a lauded duck breast and leg confit as one entrée choice), Hakkasan at MGM Grand (choose traditional or vegetarian dim sum platter), Giada at The Cromwell (lemon grilled cheese for brunch), Cleo at SLS Las Vegas (Sonoma lamb slider, anyone?), Sid’s Café at Westgate (carrot cake pancakes) and Pub 365 at Tuscany Suites (beer and food!).
Go off-Strip with venues like North Italia (yumm, burrata tortelloni and tiramisu) and Flower Child (excellent deal here!) in Summerlin, Bottiglia at Green Valley Ranch (fresh Italian cuisine), Hearthstone in Red Rock Resort (feel like a nice hanger steak?) and Beaumont’s Southern Kitchen at Texas Station (can’t go wrong with barbecue).
Downtown, you’ll find Eureka! (choose from four burgers and you’ll get a beer, too) on Fremont East, and a bit further at the Kitchen at Atomic (the porterhouse pork chop is 14 ounces).
The saddest part about Restaurant Week—you can’t eat everywhere. But maybe you should try to anyway!
