Bayside, the band named after a train station in Queens, New York, have made it through label changes, emo music coming in and out of fashion, and the death of drummer John “Beatz” Holohan. Having dedicated much of their work to their former mate, the group led by Anthony Raneri puts out power chord-heavy music with titles like “They’re Not Horses, They’re Unicorns.” They are currently touring in support of their seventh album, Vacancy, released in 2016.

Say Anything, another group with pop cultural connotations in its name, is a mainstay on the emo scene as well. Ambitious, eccentric, somewhat crazy and definitely talented is the right way to describe the Los Angeles-based pop punkers currently touring in support of album I Don’t Think There Is, which the group released without warning besides some teasers the day before.
