Few names are as synonymous with country music as Kenny Rogers. Rogers has been scoring country and pop crossover hits since the 1960s, and he’s part of a class of country legends (along with artists like Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton) that seem to have limitless energy, continuing to tour and record regularly for decades. Despite his ongoing popularity even as he nears his 80s, Rogers has announced that his current tour will be his last, so any country fans who’ve been putting off seeing him live will want to make plans to catch a performance before it’s too late.

Of course, artists like Rogers often have a tough time letting go of their musical ambitions, so it’s always possible he’ll be back on the road. But for now, this is the last chance for fans to hear the voice behind dozens of country hits, including “Islands in the Stream,” “Lady” “Coward of the County” and Rogers’ signature song “The Gambler.” The chorus of that song famously declares that its title character “knows when to hold ’em and knows when to fold ’em,” and if Rogers has decided it’s time for him to fold, then he’s certainly going out on top.
