Guitarist Zakk Wylde recently made his return to Ozzy Osbourne’s backing band after eight years away, but even during the time he’s spent on other projects, he’s never far from Osbourne’s music. While fronting his own band Black Label Society and performing solo shows, Wylde also tours as the frontman for Black Sabbath cover band Zakk Sabbath. And if anyone outside of the actual members of Black Sabbath is familiar with performing that legendary metal band’s music, it’s Wylde, who’s has been playing Sabbath favorites alongside Osbourne since he first joined the singer’s solo band in 1987.

Zakk Sabbath also features longtime Osbourne bandmate Rob “Blasko” Nicholson, on bass, with former Queens of the Stone Age drummer Joey Castillo rounding out the group. The band’s live shows focus, of course, on material from the Osbourne-led era of Black Sabbath, including metal classics like “War Pigs” and “Children of the Grave.” as well as album tracks that the actual members of Sabbath haven’t played on recent tours. Given that Sabbath itself recently finished up a farewell tour, seeing one of the band’s closest associates perform some of their greatest hits might be the current best bet for Sabbath fans.
