“You might be a redneck if you keep a spit cup on the ironing board.” It’s those type of quick setup-punchline hick-specific jokes that rocketed Jeff Foxworthy into the stratosphere of stand-up comedy.

While many comedians have a white-hot moment, Foxworthy, 59, has had white hot decades. The Atlanta-born comic and his recognizable mustache first rose to prominence in 1984 by winning the Great Southeastern Laugh-off. Less than a decade later, in 1993, he released the album You Might Be a Redneck If…, which started the redneck comedy boom and brought about humor such as, “You might be a redneck if you view the next family reunion as a chance to meet girls.”

Foxworthy honed in so tightly on his brand that he brought it to even greater heights with The Blue Collar Comedy Tour, costarring fellow similar-thinking comedians Ron White, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy. This collaboration was so successful it led to a live album, three concert films, a television series and a satellite radio station. The amiable Foxworthy has hosted a number of other television shows including the breakout hit Are You Smarter than A 5th Grader?, which he served as the moderator of both on network and syndicated television.

Jeff Foxworthy is a man who has maximized being Jeff Foxworthy.
